History

Regional Food Regulatory Office is located in each department under the Food Directorate. Regional Food Controller Khulna Office is one of them. The office of Regional Food Controller is set up in its own building of Food Department opposite GPO at Boyra on Khulna-Jeshore Road.

Regional Food Controller Khulna has 10 districts (Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Jhenaidah, Magura, Narail, Kushtia, Chuadanga and Meherpur) and movement and conservation control offices. The aim of this office is to closely monitor all activities related to food security in the 10 districts of the department, to supervise the release of government food grains arriving at Mongla port, and to implement the various instructions received from the higher offices/offices at the district and upazila levels to provide food assistance to the low and limited income public.

Till 2001 the newly formed Barisal Division was under Khulna Division and till 1976 the office of Regional Food Controller was located in Barisal town. Later the Regional Food Controller Office of Greater Khulna Division was shifted to Khulna Divisional Commissioner's Office. In 2012, the Regional Food Regulatory Office was shifted to the present building of the Food Department.

 Khulna Division has 2 silos, 2 CSDs, 69 LSDs for storing food grains. The total effective capacity of which is 315950 MT.
